K9 Officers Sniff Out Burglary Suspect in Taveuni

K9 officers efficiently tracked down and arrested a man suspected of burglary in Taveuni last night. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu reported that the Taveuni Police Station received a call regarding a break-in at an estate, prompting the deployment of a K9 team.

Upon arrival, the K9 officers successfully tracked the suspect, leading to an arrest and the recovery of items believed to be stolen. The suspect is currently in custody as investigations proceed.

ACP Driu highlighted that as the festive season approaches, K9 capabilities will support divisional operations through both mobile and foot patrols. He also urged property owners to implement necessary security measures.

“Some cases have indicated no signs of forced entry, pointing to unlocked doors as a potential vulnerability. In our haste, we may overlook essential security protocols for our homes, leading to burglary incidents,” he stated. “The Fiji Police Force encourages everyone to remain vigilant about security, as this is a crucial way to combat criminal and opportunistic activities.”
