K9 officers successfully tracked down and apprehended a man involved in an alleged burglary in Taveuni last night.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, reported that the Taveuni Police Station received a call about a break-in at an estate, prompting the deployment of a K9 unit. Upon arrival, the team was able to locate and arrest the suspect while recovering items believed to be stolen.
The accused is currently in custody as investigations are ongoing.
As the festive season approaches, ACP Driu emphasized that K9 capabilities will enhance divisional operations through routine mobile and foot patrols. He urged property owners to implement necessary security measures, noting that several recent incidents showed no signs of forced entry, indicating potential negligence in locking up homes.
“The Fiji Police Force encourages everyone to be vigilant about security, as this is the most effective way to prevent criminal activities,” ACP Driu stated.
