K9 Heroes: Swift Arrest in Taveuni Burglary Case!

K9 officers successfully tracked and apprehended a suspect involved in an alleged burglary in Taveuni last night. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu reported that the Taveuni Police Station received a call regarding a break-in at an estate, prompting the immediate deployment of a K9 team.

Upon arriving at the location, the K9 team was able to trace the suspect, resulting in an arrest and the recovery of purported stolen items. The suspect is currently in custody as investigations are ongoing.

ACP Driu emphasized that as the festive season approaches, K9 capabilities will enhance divisional operations through increased mobile and foot patrols. He also urged property owners to implement essential security measures, noting that some incidents have occurred without signs of forced entry, indicating that entries may have been left unlocked.

“It is important that we remain vigilant about our home security to prevent burglaries,” Driu stated. “The Fiji Police Force encourages everyone to be security-conscious, as this is the most effective way to combat criminal and opportunistic behavior.”
