K9 Heroes: Quick Capture in Taveuni Burglary Case

K9 officers successfully tracked and apprehended a man suspected of burglary in Taveuni last night. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu stated that a report of a break-in at an estate prompted the dispatch of a K9 team to the scene. Upon arrival, the team was able to locate the suspect and recover items believed to be stolen. The individual is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing.

As the festive season approaches, ACP Driu emphasized the importance of K9 capabilities, which will enhance divisional operations through both mobile and foot patrols. He urged property owners to implement necessary security measures, noting that several incidents have occurred without signs of forced entry, indicating that entries may have been left unlocked.

He expressed concern that people often overlook security at home, which can lead to burglaries. The Fiji Police Force has encouraged everyone to remain vigilant about security as a proactive measure against criminal activity.
