The High Court in Suva has rescheduled the sentencing of three former police officers charged with manslaughter to October 17, due to a lack of preparedness. The officers, Maciu Vakatuturaga, Joshua Bull, and Isireli Raseisei, appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe last Friday, anticipating a decision. The charges are connected to the alleged assault on Tikoivalenibula in February 2022, after he was taken to the Samabula Police Station for reportedly assaulting a 27-year-old mechanic while under the influence. The injuries sustained during the incident ultimately led to Tikoivalenibula’s death. The three officers are currently out on bail.
