Digicel Fiji Junior Kulas head coach Marika Rodu has voiced his confidence in the team’s preparedness for their opening match against Tonga in the upcoming Oceania Football Confederation Under-16 Women’s Championship.
As they enter the final week of preparation, Rodu is satisfied with the girls’ fitness levels and overall condition for the tournament. The team has been concentrating on fine-tuning their attack and defense strategies as they gear up for the match against Tonga, and they are looking forward to the challenge.
Rodu recognizes that the opening match against Tonga will be tough, as is often the case with first matches. “Well, it’s well underway and we’re coming to our last means of preparation, and just trying to taper things down, and I think the girls are in good condition and they are ready for their first game against Tonga,” Rodu stated. “We don’t expect the match against Tonga to be easy because the first match is always difficult, but the whole idea is to settle down and get straight into the game.”
Rodu remains hopeful about the Junior Kulas’ chances, expressing his commitment to securing a win and earning three points against Tonga. The OFC U16 Women’s Championship is set to begin tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, with the match against Tonga scheduled for 3 p.m. Teams will compete for places at the FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup in Morocco next year.
