Junior Kulas Seek Redemption in Next Match: Can They Bounce Back?

Digicel Fiji Junior Kulas head coach Marika Rodu has recognized that his team could have performed better in their opening match of the Oceania Football Confederation Women’s Under-16 Championship, which took place on Sunday at the HFC Bank Stadium. The match ended in a 3-3 draw against Tonga, who mounted a strong comeback near the conclusion of the game.

Rodu underscored the necessity for the team to identify and rectify its shortcomings as they advance in the tournament. Despite the result, he praised the players for their goal-scoring efforts, commenting that their performance was somewhat above average.

“It was the first game, and there’s a lot to learn from it. I believe the girls put in their best effort to score a few goals. While the result isn’t what we desired, I would rate our performance as slightly above average,” Rodu stated.

He acknowledged the challenges ahead, emphasizing the need for consistency as they continue in the tournament. “We played the game fairly, and we will be working extra hard for our upcoming matches,” he added.

As they prepare for their next match against the Cook Islands, Rodu highlighted the importance of improving their defensive strategy and maintaining confidence in possession while generating scoring opportunities.

The Junior Kulas are set to face the Cook Islands tomorrow at 3 pm.
