The Digicel Junior Kulas have gained a significant advantage with the addition of three players who participated in the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia. Goalkeeper Elena Vakaloloma along with attacking midfielders Asenaca Maiso and Elesi Tabunase joined the team’s training session at Albert Park in Suva.
After their opening match ended in a 3-3 draw against Tonga, the Junior Kulas are gearing up to face the Cook Islands in an important OFC Under-16 Championship match today. Coach Marika Rodu believes that the inclusion of the new players will improve the team’s chances of winning.
“I can say that all three will start in today’s match, but we need to manage their energy levels,” Rodu stated. He indicated that the fatigue of the three players will be monitored closely, emphasizing, “There is always the fatigue element. While they do lift the team’s morale, we must carefully manage their performance.”
Fiji is set to compete against the Cook Islands at 3 PM at the HFC Bank Stadium.
