Digicel Fiji Junior Kulas head coach Marika Rodu has expressed confidence in his team’s preparedness for their opening match against Tonga at the upcoming Oceania Football Confederation Under-16 Women’s Championship.
As the final week of preparations approaches, Rodu is satisfied with the fitness and condition of the players as they gear up for the tournament. The team has been concentrating on enhancing their offensive and defensive strategies in anticipation of the match against Tonga, which they are looking forward to.
Rodu notes that the encounter with Tonga will be challenging, typical of initial matches in tournaments. He stated, “We’re in the final stages of preparation, and we are tapering down. I think the girls are in good condition and ready for their first game against Tonga. We don’t expect the match to be easy because the first match is always tough, but the goal is to settle down and get straight into the game.”
Remaining optimistic about their chances, Rodu is determined to lead the Junior Kulas to victory and secure three points against Tonga.
The OFC U16 Women’s Championship will commence tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, with Fiji set to face Tonga at 3 p.m. Teams are competing for a chance to qualify for the FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup in Morocco next year.
