The head coach of the Digicel Fiji Junior Kulas, Marika Rodu, has expressed confidence in his team’s preparation for their opening match against Tonga in the Oceania Football Confederation Under-16 Women’s Championship. As the tournament approaches, Rodu is satisfied with the players’ fitness and overall condition.
In the final week of training, the team has concentrated on perfecting their offensive and defensive tactics to face Tonga, and they are looking forward to the upcoming challenge. Rodu recognizes that the first match can be tough, stating, “It’s well underway and we’re reaching the last stages of preparation, trying to taper things down. I believe the girls are in good shape and ready for their initial game against Tonga.”
He added that while they do not anticipate an easy match, the focus will be on settling into the game quickly. Rodu is optimistic about the Junior Kulas’ chances and is determined to secure a win and earn three points in their opener.
The OFC U16 Women’s Championship begins tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, with Fiji facing Tonga at 3 PM. Teams will compete for a chance to qualify for the FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup in Morocco next year.
