Junior Kulas Aiming for Redemption in Next Match!

Digicel Fiji Junior Kulas head coach Marika Rodu expressed that the team could have delivered a better performance during their opening match at the Oceania Football Confederation Women’s Under-16 Championship, which took place on Sunday at the HFC Bank Stadium. The match resulted in a 3-3 draw against Tonga, who staged a strong comeback late in the game.

Rodu emphasized the necessity for the team to work on their limitations and enhance their gameplay as the tournament continues. Although disappointed with the result, he praised the girls for their efforts in finding the net, deeming their performance as slightly above average.

“First game, a lot to learn from. I think the girls gave their best to score a few goals. The result we didn’t want, and the performance was slightly above average, I would say,” commented Rodu. “Though it was the first game, it’s going to be difficult going through the tournament, but we must be consistent. We played the game fair and square and we will be working extra hard for our other matches.”

Looking ahead to their next game against the Cook Islands, Rodu highlighted the importance of consistency and improving their defensive strategy. He also underscored the need for the team to keep their confidence while in possession and to create more scoring opportunities.

The Junior Kulas are set to face the Cook Islands tomorrow at 3 pm.
