Junior Koya made a successful return to the boxing ring after a two-year hiatus, securing a victory against Jone Tagimei by technical knockout. Tagimei decided to withdraw from the fight in the second round after sustaining a nose injury and expressing to his coach that he could no longer continue.

In a statement following the match, Koya expressed his excitement about returning to the sport and achieving victory. He highlighted the month of rigorous training he underwent in preparation for the bout. “It feels incredible to be back in the ring and to win like this,” he remarked. Koya also emphasized that his time away from the ring allowed him to focus on honing his skills.
