Junior Koya made a successful return to the boxing ring after a two-year hiatus, winning his match against Jone Tagimei by technical knockout. Tagimei’s corner stopped the fight in the second round after he began to show signs of injury, including blood from his nose, and expressed to his coach that he could not continue.
In a post-fight interview, Koya expressed his excitement about his return, stating, “It feels incredible to be back in the ring and to win like this.” He highlighted the extensive training he completed over the past month, noting that his dedication and improvement in skills contributed to his success.
Koya also credited his farming work for enhancing his fitness, describing it as both training and a chance for self-reflection. He emphasized his commitment to further development in the sport, saying, “There’s a lot more I want to achieve, and today was just the beginning.”
In a separate match, Shafir Maqbool secured a victory by default against Sakaria Talatu.
