Eddie Hearn, the promoter for Anthony Joshua, is confident that Joshua will seek a rematch against Daniel Dubois following their recent encounter. Joshua, 34, suffered a knockout defeat in the fifth round of their fight at Wembley Stadium, losing the IBF world heavyweight title to the 27-year-old Dubois.
After the match, which was attended by a crowd of 96,000, Hearn stated, “I am sure he’ll exercise that rematch clause. I think that’s a given. However, he’ll need some time to recover, and this is a risky fight. Dubois is gaining confidence, but Joshua will believe he can hurt him and ultimately defeat him. Full credit to Daniel Dubois for his performance tonight.”
Meanwhile, Dubois’ promoter Frank Warren is advocating for a bout between Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk, who is set to fight Tyson Fury in a rematch in December. Warren remarked, “Oleksandr Usyk is currently considered the best heavyweight in the world, and he gave Dubois his toughest fight in their previous encounter. I believe Dubois should face him next after the Fury match, which I think Tyson will win.”
Dubois himself expressed his desire for a shot at redemption against Usyk, stating, “This is my time, this is my redemption story, and I won’t stop until I achieve my full potential.”
Reflecting on his fourth career loss, Joshua acknowledged Dubois’ performance, saying, “Credit to him and his team; we took the risk and came up short. I appreciate everyone who came to Wembley tonight. I may be angry, but I’ll keep my composure and show respect to my opponent.”
