Eddie Hearn, Anthony Joshua’s promoter, is confident that Joshua will have a rematch with Daniel Dubois following their recent bout. Joshua, 34, faced a setback when he was knocked out by Dubois in the fifth round during their fight at Wembley Stadium, which resulted in Joshua missing out on the IBF world heavyweight title.
Hearn shared his thoughts after a crowd of 96,000 witnessed the match, stating, “I am sure he’ll exercise that rematch clause. I think that’s a given. But he’ll need a rest; it’s a dangerous fight. Dubois is gaining confidence, but Joshua will believe he can win.” Hearn also praised Dubois for his impressive performance.
Meanwhile, Dubois’ promoter, Frank Warren, expressed interest in seeing Dubois challenge Oleksandr Usyk, who is set to fight Tyson Fury in December. Warren noted, “Usyk is currently regarded as the best heavyweight in the world, and he gave Dubois one of his toughest fights.” He added that while Dubois has ambitions for a rematch with Usyk, he must first see how the fight between Usyk and Fury unfolds.
Dubois himself is eager for future opportunities, saying, “Maybe Usyk, a big shot at my redemption. Anyone… anyone can get it. This has been a rollercoaster ride; this is my time.”
Reflecting on his fourth professional defeat, Joshua acknowledged Dubois’ performance, saying, “Credit to him and his team; we rolled the dice at success and came up short.” He thanked the crowd for their support while expressing his determination to stay composed and respectful toward his opponent.
