Jonathan Hill Eyes Knockout Victory Against Rupeni Rokoratu in South Pacific Boxing Promotion

Jonathan Hill is hopeful of extending his winning streak with his second professional bout against Labasa’s Rupeni Rokoratu in the South Pacific boxing promotion happening in Labasa next month.

“Preparation has been good and we’re always prepped, Winston (his younger brother) and I,” Hill said. “My approach in this fight is to knock out Rokoratu so I can improve my ranking.”

Hill is aiming for a title fight, provided he secures a victory against Rokoratu. “This is the first time for me to fight him (Rokoratu) and it’s almost like amateur boxing where we just go in and deal with it in the ring,” he said. “My motivation to win the fight will be my son.”

Hill mentioned that he did not study his opponent closely as he is focused on honing his own abilities and strength. “It’s been good to have my younger brother Winston in my preparation and I guess it makes my opponent wary of me,” he said. “It’ll also be my first time fighting in Labasa.”

Hill previously won his first professional fight in the super middleweight division against Donasio Macedru in the Lewis Hill boxing promotions at Vodafone Arena, Suva last year. “I’m trying to improve my fitness in preparation with the aim to win,” he said. “I was unfit in my last fight, but I got the job done.”

Hill said he has gained valuable experience from his previous professional bout. “I will be targeting the super middleweight title of Fiji after this fight and maybe the light heavyweight as well,” he said. “We’ll see whoever has the title, I’ll be going after them.”
