Three-time NBA Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic sustained a concerning knee injury during the Denver Nuggets’ 147-123 defeat to the Miami Heat. The injury occurred late in the first half when Jokic accidentally collided with teammate Spencer Jones, who stepped on his foot, causing the 30-year-old to fall and clutch his knee in pain.

Nuggets head coach David Adelman described the incident as “gut-wrenching,” highlighting that Jokic was quick to recognize that something was amiss with his knee. This injury raises concerns, particularly given Jokic’s pivotal role in the team’s performance, as he currently leads the league in both rebounds and assists for the season.

To assess the extent of the injury, Jokic is scheduled to undergo an MRI scan on Tuesday. Prior to his exit from the game, he had impressive stats, scoring 21 points and providing eight assists, showcasing his vital contributions on the court.

Fans and teammates are hopeful for a positive prognosis, as Jokic’s presence is crucial for the Nuggets’ success going forward.
