Newcastle Red Bulls have made an exciting addition to their roster by signing Fijian winger Joji Nasova on a two-year contract ahead of the upcoming season. Formerly known as Newcastle Falcons, the team competes in Premiership Rugby, which is the top tier of rugby union in England.

At just 25 years old, Nasova joins the Red Bulls with a reputation as a dynamic try-scorer, known for his speed, power, and impressive acceleration. He boasts a formidable track record, having scored four tries in just three international tests for Fiji. His rapid rise in the rugby world is attributed to his successful stint on the international sevens circuit.

Nasova was part of the Fiji national team that clinched an Olympic silver medal at the Paris Olympics. He had an outstanding season in 2025, marking his presence in the HSBC SVNS Series Dream Team after finishing as a joint top try-scorer with 26 tries throughout the season. Although he is contracted to play Super Rugby with the Fijian Drua in the 2026 campaign, Nasova has already made waves in the 15-a-side format, scoring on his debut against Canada and contributing significantly in Fiji’s victories in key matches such as the Pacific Nations Cup final and their recent win over Spain.

Newcastle Red Bulls’ sporting general manager Neil McIlroy is optimistic about Nasova’s potential to elevate the team’s performance. He noted, “Joji is an electrifying runner who can really help spark our attack into life,” emphasizing the excitement surrounding his abilities and the impact he is expected to have on the team’s game play.

With Nasova’s arrival, Newcastle is signaling its intent to enhance the effectiveness of their backline, giving fans the opportunity to witness a proven finisher capable of transforming half-chances into points as they prepare for the new season. This addition not only boosts the team’s prospects but also adds an exciting dimension to their style of play, igniting anticipation among supporters for what lies ahead.
