Join the Global Call: Faith Leaders Unite for Creation!

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Suva, in partnership with various Faith-Based Organizations, will hold an Ecumenical and Interreligious Season of Creation Prayer Service on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Ratu Sukuna Park from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

The Season of Creation, celebrated annually from September 1 to October 4, is a global event dedicated to prayer and action aimed at protecting the environment. It is a time to honor God as the Creator and acknowledge Creation as a divine gift that requires our collaborative care and preservation.

This year’s theme, “To Hope and Act with Creation,” encourages individuals of faith to respond with optimism amid the worldwide environmental challenges, including climate change, loss of biodiversity, and pollution.

With many facing eco-anxiety, the faith community is urged to draw strength from their beliefs and engage in meaningful actions through prayer, service, and solidarity.

Archbishop Peter Loy Chong, the leader of the Catholic Church in Fiji, emphasized the importance of collective efforts through faith to highlight the message of environmental protection, which is central to this Ecumenical Service.

The organizers hope that attendees will join in amplifying the message of environmental stewardship and the significant role of faith in safeguarding our planet, while also fostering a spirit of unity in prayer and action for the Earth.
