John Wesley College Claims Rugby Glory at Hibiscus Festival!

John Wesley College triumphed in the under-16 and under-18 categories of the secondary schools touch rugby tournament organized by Touch Federation Fiji during the Hibiscus Festival. The event took place over two days at Albert Park starting Monday.

In the under-18 final, John Wesley secured a 5-3 victory against Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College. Earlier in the tournament, John Wesley faced Queen Victoria School in the under-16 final, winning that match 3-2.

The under-16 team of John Wesley advanced through the pool stages by defeating Queen Victoria School 4-3 and Marist Brothers High School 4-3, before moving on to the quarter-finals where they overcame Lami High School 4-0. They then progressed to the semi-finals with a 6-2 victory against Suva Grammar School, followed by a 3-1 win over Marist to reach the final against Queen Victoria School.

In the under-18 category, John Wesley began their campaign with a 3-1 win against Queen Victoria School but faced a defeat against Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College, losing 5-4. However, they regained momentum by beating Suva Grammar School 6-3 in their final pool match. John Wesley made a strong return in the semi-finals, defeating Queen Victoria School 7-2 before meeting Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College in the final once more. This time, John Wesley clinched the title with a 5-3 win, securing both U16 and U18 championships.
