The Mike Friday Select 7s team will be missing their pivotal player, Jerry Tuwai, at the upcoming McDonalds Coral Coast Fiji 7s due to a personal loss, as confirmed by tournament organizers. Tuwai, who serves as one of the tournament’s three ambassadors for the 2026 event, has chosen to take this time to be with his family and loved ones.
Tournament officials have expressed their full support for Tuwai’s decision, emphasizing that his well-being is their top priority. In a heartfelt statement, they described Tuwai not only as an ambassador but also as part of their extended family, and they extended their deepest condolences to him during this challenging time.
In Tuwai’s absence, Ba man Samisoni Sadole, who has experience playing for Devo Babas, will step in to fill his role on the team. The Coral Coast 7s event is set to kick off on Thursday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, with all three days of action scheduled to be broadcast live and exclusively on FBC Sports.
As the tournament approaches, the Coral Coast 7s community continues to rally around Tuwai and his family, urging everyone to respect their privacy and support them in this moment of grief.
