Jeff Garcia, the beloved stand-up comedian and voice actor known for his role as Sheen Estévez in “The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius,” has passed away at the age of 50. His son, fellow comedian Jojo Garcia, shared the heartbreaking news via Instagram on Wednesday, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of his father. Jojo described Jeff as a unique talent whose rapid wit and engaging humor brought joy to countless fans worldwide, whether they grew up watching the animated series or enjoyed his stand-up comedy performances.

The cause of death has not been disclosed, but reports indicate that Garcia had suffered a brain aneurysm earlier this spring, followed by a stroke and a collapsed lung. Following the announcement, Debbie Derryberry, who voiced the titular character of Jimmy Neutron, paid tribute to Garcia on Instagram. She recalled their recent reunion at a convention and highlighted his ability to be the funniest person in any room.

Born in 1975, Garcia began his career in comedy during the early 1990s. His path to fame included brief appearances in shows like “Caroline in the City” and “Dangerous Minds,” along with a small role in the 2000 comedy “3 Strikes.” However, it was his iconic character Sheen Estévez—who is known for his obsession with UltraLord—that cemented his reputation, debuting in the 2001 animated film “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius,” which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

The success of the film led to a Nickelodeon spin-off series, “The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius,” which aired 55 episodes from 2002 to 2006, featuring Garcia’s voice across all episodes and additional specials. The character further expanded into a spinoff series titled “Planet Sheen,” which ran from 2010 to 2013, showcasing Garcia’s enduring impact on children’s entertainment.

Garcia’s accomplishments extended beyond voice acting; he also earned an Annie Award in 2004 for his work in the episode “Nightmare in Retroville.” He contributed his voice talent to animated features like “Happy Feet,” where he voiced Rinaldo, and the “Rio” films, in which he played various characters.

While Garcia transitioned into focusing on stand-up comedy in recent years, his contributions to voice acting and animated films remain significant. His last credited performances include the upcoming movie “Holy Cash” and a final appearance as Sheen in the video game “Nicktoons & The Dice of Destiny.” His legacy leaves a delightful mark on both the comedy and animation worlds, ensuring his spirit will live on in the hearts of fans and loved ones.
