World number four Jasmine Paolini has announced her decision to part ways with coach Marc Lopez, just days after her early exit from Wimbledon. The Italian player, who made history last year as the first Italian woman in the Open era to reach the Wimbledon final, lost a close second-round match against Russian player Kamilla Rakhimova, finishing with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

During her time with Lopez, a former doubles world number three and part of Rafa Nadal’s coaching staff, Paolini secured significant achievements including her second WTA 1000 title at the Italian Open and a women’s doubles title at the French Open. In her statement on social media, Paolini expressed gratitude for the hard work and energy Lopez contributed, highlighting their successful results in Rome and Paris.

“This part of the season is now over, and I’ve decided to make a change. I’ve learned a lot and made good progress,” she said, indicating that she is taking time to reflect on her next steps.

Recently, Paolini has become a recognized figure in tennis, having notably become the first Italian woman to reach the singles final at both the French Open and Wimbledon in the same season. Despite falling short in her title bids, her journey continues to inspire many fans and aspiring players.

The decision to switch coaches could be seen as a strategic move for Paolini, as she looks to build on her recent performances and regain her momentum in the sport. With the support of her growing fanbase, she remains optimistic about her future endeavors in tennis.
