The Fijian Cabinet has given the green light to a grant aid agreement with the Government of Japan, aimed at enhancing the nation’s road infrastructure. The agreement will facilitate the procurement of essential heavy machinery needed for road construction and maintenance across Fiji.

The funding, amounting to ¥864 million, which is approximately FJD $12.6 million, will significantly boost the Ministry of Public Works’ capacity to manage and execute road works efficiently. This initiative underscores the importance of investing in the nation’s infrastructure, as it is expected to not only strengthen road development but also improve maintenance practices nationwide.

This strategic partnership with Japan represents a step forward for Fiji, promoting better connectivity and accessibility throughout the islands, which is crucial for socio-economic development and the overall wellbeing of its residents.
