Japanese Ambassador Rokuichiro Michii has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing partnership between Japan and Fiji, highlighting the significant strides both nations are making in their collaborative efforts at regional and international levels. His comments were made during a reception celebrating the 65th birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan.

Ambassador Michii reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to collaborating with Fiji across various sectors, stressing the importance of mutual development and prosperity. He highlighted several infrastructure projects supported by the Japanese government, such as the Tamavua-i-wai bridge, a multipurpose disaster recovery vessel, and a newly planned facility for the Fiji Meteorological Center aimed at enhancing regional training and disaster risk reduction services in the Pacific.

Fiji’s President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, conveyed his best wishes to the Emperor of Japan and noted the strong relationship that has developed between the two countries over the years. This partnership has been strengthened through cooperative efforts in disaster risk reduction, climate change response, and economic advancement.
