Ratu Aca Rayawa, the chairman of the governance, audit, and risk committee for the iTaukei Lands Trust Board (TLTB), has publicly defended CEO Solomone Nata following criticisms over his performance that were shared on social media.
Rayawa addressed accusations made by former Fiji citizen Vilisi Nadaku, who alleged corruption involving Nata and the board. He emphatically denied these claims, describing them as both untrue and libellous. “Mr. Nadaku also alleges that TLTB acted corruptly in facilitating retirement benefits for former staff. This allegation is simply untrue and libellous,” Rayawa stated.
He elaborated that the policies regarding staff benefits at TLTB are established through formal resolutions by the full board, as stipulated under Section 3 of the iTaukei Land Trust Act. Rayawa pointed out that the two former employees referenced by Nadaku were eligible for retirement benefits but did not receive them. This decision, he explained, was part of a commitment to fairness and justice.
Rayawa concluded by asserting that TLTB has no intention of legitimizing Nadaku’s allegations through explanations of their procedural decisions, emphasizing their adherence to established policies and practices. This defense not only supports Nata’s leadership but also reinforces the board’s integrity in its operational processes.
