Isua Ramasi, a representative of the Henibua 7s team, is seizing a rare opportunity to challenge himself against top-tier competition at this year’s McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s. This tournament not only presents a physical challenge but also offers invaluable exposure for Ramasi, allowing him to learn from and observe some of the best rugby sevens players in the world, whom he aspires to join on the field in the future.

The journey to this prestigious event has been fraught with difficulties for the Henibua team, which has faced several setbacks leading up to the tournament. However, their commitment to compete remained resolute despite these challenges. Ramasi shared, “It was not an easy one for us leading up to the tournament. Sometimes our meals were not enough, but we held on. Now that I’m here and just sitting next to the Drua tent, I’m grateful that I get to see them and meet them as well.”

As a young player from Sautabu Navosa, Ramasi finds immense motivation simply being in close proximity to the players of the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua, fueling his ambition to wear the same jersey one day. He expressed his excitement, saying, “I’m happy just being here, seeing them up close. Hopefully one day I’ll be running alongside them.”

Ramasi underscores the importance of tournaments like the Coral Coast 7s for player development, emphasizing that increased game time will only enhance his skills and increase his chances of making progress in the sport. This year marks his second participation in the Coral Coast 7s, having competed in the youth category last season.

The McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s continues to unfold at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, with live coverage available on FBC Sports, allowing fans to support the emerging talents like Ramasi as they strive to make their mark in rugby sevens.
