Issak Fines-Leleiwasa, the newly acquired recruit for Swire Shipping Fijian Drua, expressed his enthusiasm for joining the team as he anticipates an exhilarating season in the Shop & Save Super Rugby Pacific. The former Wallabies and Western Force halfback shared that the decision to come aboard felt timely for both him and his family.
Having observed the Drua from a distance for several years, Fines-Leleiwasa was captivated by the passion that the team shares with its supporters. “It’s such a big part of their lifestyle over here. I think that excites me and to be a part of that, I think it’ll be something special,” he noted.
The talented player is particularly eager to experience the atmosphere of Drua home games from the perspective of a player, contrasting his past experiences of playing against the team. He recalls the electric crowds and feels “to be a part of it on the other side would be awesome,” highlighting that “the fan base over here is the best in the world.”
Fines-Leleiwasa has found the transition to the Drua squad smooth, attributing it to the warm welcome he received from his new teammates. He is motivated to contribute positively to the team dynamic and expressed eagerness to enjoy and succeed in the upcoming season. “It’s going to be a cool season and I’m keen to work hard and share what I can,” he added optimistically.
