KAVA exporter and retailer Lami Kava Pte Ltd (LKPL) has launched a new product line called Islands Nature, which includes dehydrated instant kava powder along with wellness products like turmeric, ginger, and layalaya (wild ginger). The product launch occurred at their head office in Lami.
General Manager Edward Hoerder mentioned that Islands Nature marks an important advancement for the company, as it honors Fijian heritage by showcasing traditional Fijian medicine on a global scale. He emphasized the company’s longstanding commitment to quality, stating, “We’ve been in business for 40 years and are known for producing high-quality kava, but today we take a step forward in expanding our offerings.”
The initial offerings under this line include turmeric, recognized for its anti-inflammatory benefits; ginger, known for digestion and immunity support; and layalaya, a Fijian plant revered for its medicinal properties. Hoerder also pointed out the company’s intention to collaborate with local farmers to source the necessary plants for their production process, paralleling their successful growth in the kava industry.
Manoa Kamikamica, Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, officially launched the product line and praised LKPL for its innovation and commitment to expanding Fiji’s agricultural and export capabilities. He noted that the launch was a significant step toward enhancing Fiji’s reputation as a premium sourcing destination for kava and wellness products. Kamikamica reaffirmed that these new offerings are aligned with the government’s mission to boost the agricultural sector and create more economic opportunities for farmers.
The launch of Islands Nature comes at a time when the kava industry is experienced growth and diversification, with previous initiatives also highlighting this sector’s potential to become a billion-dollar industry, significantly benefiting local communities and farmers. Local entrepreneurs such as the Veitamani Kava Dealers have also sought to uplift farmers by ensuring stable market access and supporting local agricultural production. Their efforts, combined with LKPL’s new product line, indicate a positive trajectory for the industry, suggesting an optimistic future for both businesses and communities invested in kava cultivation and natural wellness products.
