Island Talent Joins USA Netball Team for Premier League Debut

RO Iva Naiteqe has been named as one of the 12 members of the USA Netball team for the launch of the USA Netball Premier League. The team is set to compete against Trinidad and Tobago this weekend.

Naiteqe, whose parents are former Fiji 7s player Sailosi Naiteqe Jr. and former Viti FM Radio announcer Litia Naiteqe, currently plays club netball in Seattle. She stands out as the only islander selected for the team, while her mother has been appointed as the assistant manager.

USA Netball stated that the selection was based on multiple criteria, emphasizing factors beyond mere skill. These include independent workout discipline, effective communication skills both on and off the court, follow-up and execution, enthusiasm, commitment, hard work, dedication, and team dynamics.

This USA netball team represents a significant first step towards becoming part of the Flying Eagles, the elite squad that competes internationally for the USA. The goal is to cultivate well-rounded athletes who exemplify the values of USA Netball.

Litia Naiteqe expressed her pride and gratitude for the opportunity. “Ro Iva is now officially part of the USA netball team to play this weekend, and I’m blessed to be the assistant manager. We thank God for this opportunity,” Naiteqe said.
