The USA Island Boys are set to make their debut at the Rams Group of Companies 10th Sanatan World Cup, which begins tomorrow in Sydney. Coached by the renowned Gurjit Singh, the team will participate in the Over 40s category.
Managed by Ashnil and Rajneel Prasad, the Island Boys, established just last year, have achieved success in various soccer tournaments throughout the Bay Area in California. This year, they made a significant impact by winning all major tournaments, including the NAFSA tournament, where they faced off against leading American and Canadian clubs.
In a statement to FijiLive, Coach Singh expressed the players’ enthusiasm and commitment to performing at their best during the World Cup. “We are going to give our best at this tournament and show our good sportsmanship as we are representing the USA,” he stated.
The team will be led by former Nasinu representatives Rup Edward and Virend Singh, along with ex-USA All Stars goalkeeper Kevin Dip and Lawrence Dutt. Additionally, former Tailevu Naitasiri players Sudeshwar Ram, Nitan Kumar, and Shiva Goundar have been added as guest players to enhance the team’s experience. The Island Boys are scheduled to commence their campaign at 7 PM tomorrow against Lautoka Sanatan.
