Island Boys Set to Make Waves in Sanatan World Cup Debut

The USA Island Boys are set to make their debut at the Rams Group of Companies 10th Sanatan World Cup, which kicks off tomorrow in Sydney. The team, coached by the renowned Gurjit Singh, will participate in the Over 40s category.

Managed by Ashnil and Rajneel Prasad, the Island Boys were formed last year and have seen success in various soccer tournaments in the Bay Area, California. This year, they have made a significant impact by winning all major tournaments, including the NAFSA tournament, where they faced off against top American and Canadian clubs.

In a statement to FijiLive, Coach Singh expressed the players’ enthusiasm and commitment to performing at their best in the World Cup. He noted, “We are going to give our best at this tournament and show our good sportsmanship as we are representing USA.”

Leading the team’s efforts will be former Nasinu representatives Rup Edward and Virend Singh, alongside former USA All Stars goalkeeper Kevin Dip and Lawrence Dutt. Additionally, former Tailevu Naitasiri players Sudeshwar Ram, Nitan Kumar, and Shiva Goundar have joined as guest players to bring more experience to the squad. The Island Boys will launch their campaign against Lautoka Sanatan at 7pm tomorrow.
