Mark Evans, the chief executive of Swire Shipping Fijian Drua, has put an end to speculation concerning star center Iosefo Masi. He confirmed that the Olympic gold and silver medalist will continue with the franchise for the 2025 season.
Recent reports from French media had suggested that Masi was being considered by Lyon as they look for a replacement for Semi Radradra, who is expected to leave mid-season for a club in Japan. However, Evans assured fans that Masi is “happily contracted” with the Fijian Drua and will remain part of the team.
Evans also highlighted the importance of relying on credible news sources, urging Drua supporters to be cautious about information shared on social media.
In addition, Masi has resumed training with the Drua following rehabilitation from a knee injury that sidelined him, preventing his participation in the Flying Fijians’ recent tour of Europe.
This news brings relief to Drua fans, as Masi’s presence is crucial for the team’s success. His return to training indicates a hopeful recovery, promising an exciting season ahead. The commitment from Masi to stay with the Drua enhances the team’s prospects in the upcoming Super Rugby Pacific season.
