The Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka, has initiated an investigation into an aircraft incident that occurred at Yasawa Aerodrome last Saturday. The accident involved a GA8 Airvan that was carrying six passengers and a pilot. According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the aircraft overran the runway but fortunately came to a stop just outside the strip.
The statement highlighted that there were no injuries reported among the pilot and passengers, although the aircraft did sustain damage to its nose wheel and propeller. The ministry also confirmed that despite the incident, the Yasawa Aerodrome remains operational, and regular aviation activities have resumed.
