Fiji Police have initiated an investigation into a shipment of cartons allegedly containing methamphetamine, intercepted in Nadi this week.
This was confirmed to The Fiji Times by Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew.
Although the exact quantity seized remains undisclosed, multiple sources have indicated that over 15 cartons suspected to contain methamphetamine, commonly known as ice, were seized from a courier office in Nadi.
Mr. Chew stated that further details will be provided once the investigation is concluded.
This year, police have executed several drug busts, many of which involved methamphetamine.

– January 15: A raid in Legalega, Nadi, is reported, leading to one of the largest hauls for Fiji Police, seizing about 3 tonnes stored in 797 containers from a vacant home.
– January 22: Another major drug bust occurs in Maqalevu, Nadi, with 1.1 tonnes of white substances in crystal and powder form stored in various containers and kava bags.
– June 26: The Fiji Counter Narcotics Strategy reveals that 14.814 kg of methamphetamine, valued at $7.4 million, has been seized in the country from January 2023 to date.
