Investigation Into Boxing Incident Set to Conclude This Week

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Ubayd Haider is expected to conclude this week, according to Edwin Wainiqolo, the chairperson of the Commission of Inquiry. In an interview, Wainiqolo revealed that there is only one individual left to be questioned: Fredy Chand, former promoter of South Pacific Boxing Promotion.

Wainiqolo confirmed that Mohammed Shameem has already been interviewed. Chand, who is currently overseas, has graciously agreed to assist by making himself available for questioning. Wainiqolo noted that they had intended to interview Chand earlier this week, but time zone differences delayed the process.

Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be submitted to Jese Saukuru, the Minister of Youth and Sports. Should further clarification be necessary, a press conference will be organized to address key issues and findings.

This investigation represents a crucial step in addressing the events leading up to Haider’s passing, and the commission’s diligent work highlights the importance of accountability in the sports community. While the outcome may be somber, it underscores a commitment to transparency and justice in the boxing industry.

In summary, the investigation is approaching its final stages with Chand’s cooperation, and there is a proactive plan in place to communicate the findings to the public and the relevant authorities.
