The 2024 Bic Southern Business House Futsal Soccer Cup is advancing to its elimination round, set to take place on Monday at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva.
Tournament director Alan Kumar has highlighted the competitiveness in this year’s men’s category, noting the presence of many district representatives in various teams.
“The pool games were intense, and all teams came prepared, showing great competitiveness,” Kumar stated.
For Monday’s elimination round, the Ministry of Education, Pacific Customs Agencies Ltd, and DHL are considered among the top contenders to advance to the quarter-finals.
The winners from these elimination matches will proceed to the cup category, while the losers will move to the plate category.
In the women’s competition, the team with the highest points after the Round Robin games will be declared the winner. Kumar pointed out that USP is a team to watch, as they are making their debut with a squad of university students.
The tournament has been made possible through the support of sponsors BIC and Blue Gas.
Approximately 1000 players and officials have participated, promoting the elimination of non-communicable diseases.
The tournament’s theme, “say no to drugs and domestic violence,” is a cause the organizers proudly advocate for.
