Fariza Ali, the dux of Labasa Muslim Primary School, is inspired by renowned physicist Albert Einstein. Achieving an impressive score of 461 out of 500 during the recent annual prizegiving ceremony, the Year 8 student is determined to improve her performance even further next year. Fariza’s aspirations do not stop at her current academic success; she plans to transition to Labasa College with the goal of becoming a dentist and eventually earning honorary doctorate degrees in science, medicine, and philosophy, much like the esteemed Einstein.
At just 14 years old and living on Nanuku Street in Labasa, Fariza feels grateful for her supportive family, which includes four siblings who are excelling in their respective careers as a police officer, a doctor, a clerical officer, and a student at Fiji National University. Their achievements inspire her to keep striving for excellence, and she hopes to become the first dentist in her family, making her parents proud.
Fariza expressed her heartfelt thanks to her parents, Tajmoon Nisha and Ashmat Ali, acknowledging the challenges they face in raising five children. Her father is the family’s sole breadwinner, managing Tebara Halal Meats Limited in Labasa. Despite being the youngest child, Fariza values the importance of hard work and education, recognizing her privilege in having the freedom to choose her career path.
In addition, Aiyub Khan, the manager of Labasa Muslim Primary School, announced that enrollment for the next academic year has begun and that the school is committed to accommodating students who may not find places elsewhere.
