Fariza Ali, the top student from Labasa Muslim Primary School, drew inspiration from the legendary physicist Albert Einstein as she completed Year 8 with an impressive score of 461 out of 500 during the recent annual prizegiving ceremony. Motivated to excel further, the 14-year-old intends to advance her education at Labasa College with aspirations of becoming a dentist and earning prestigious honorary doctorate degrees in science, medicine, and philosophy akin to Einstein.
Fariza, who lives on Nanuku Street in Labasa, expressed gratitude for her supportive family, noting that she has four siblings who have established themselves in meaningful careers—one as a police officer, another as a doctor, alongside a clerical officer and a university student. “Their successful journeys make our parents proud, and I am determined to bring them further joy by being the first dentist in our family,” she shared.
Acknowledging the challenges her parents face, especially with her father being the sole breadwinner as a manager at Tebara Halal Meats Limited, Fariza reflected on the sacrifices made for her education. “Being the youngest, I am fortunate to have my needs met, but I value the lessons of hard work that my parents instill in me,” she stated. Fariza considers herself privileged to have access to education and the freedom to choose her career path.
The school manager, Aiyub Khan, reported that Labasa Muslim Primary School has commenced enrollment for the upcoming academic year and is committed to accommodating any student seeking placement, ensuring that every child has the opportunity for education.
This story showcases the power of determination and familial support in shaping young futures. Fariza’s aspirations highlight a deep commitment to both her personal goals and her family’s legacy, setting a positive example for her peers. As education continues to be a priority in her life, it is hopeful to see how she will follow her dreams of making a significant impact in the field of dentistry.
