Qenika Ravula recently achieved a remarkable milestone by graduating from Pacific Polytech, where he received a National Certificate in Electrical Fitter Mechanic Level Three. This accomplishment was made even more inspirational given Mr. Ravula’s battle with kyphosis, a spinal disorder he has faced for over a decade. His journey underscores the power of faith and perseverance.
The graduation ceremony took place at the Kshatriya Hall in Labasa, where Mr. Ravula, the fourth of seven siblings from Vuinaqalutu Village, was overcome with emotion as he realized his dreams were coming to fruition. Tears filled his eyes as he received his certificate from Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga, demonstrating the magnitude of his achievement.
Despite the challenges presented by kyphosis, Mr. Ravula remained determined to succeed. With his family’s support, he initially completed his Year 12 education at Ahmadiyya Muslim College before enrolling in the Naleba Youth Training Centre, where he earned a Certificate in Agriculture. He is the first in his family to complete a trade certificate as an electrical fitter technician.
“We survive mainly on the assistance from the Social Welfare Department, and my mother grows root crops for our sustenance,” Mr. Ravula shared, highlighting the modest means his family endures. His commitment to education and self-improvement shines through his story as he expressed gratitude for his mother’s unwavering support.
Mr. Ravula took advantage of the Tertiary Education and Loan Scheme to pursue his electrical fitter qualification, demonstrating resourcefulness and initiative. Alongside his personal tale, he encourages younger individuals to find strength through faith rather than turning to negative influences like drugs and crime.
“God has a plan for everyone. We need to work hard. If I can do this, anyone can do the same,” he said, radiating a hopeful message that hard work and perseverance are key to overcoming life’s obstacles.
His story serves as a testament to resilience and the belief that one’s circumstances do not dictate their future. With supportive communities and unwavering faith, many can achieve greatness regardless of their challenges.
In summary, Qenika Ravula’s graduation is not just a personal victory, but also an inspiring example that encourages others to pursue their dreams against all odds.
