Inspiring Journey of Raiwaqa’s Top Cadet: Ana Seru’s Path to Excellence

Ana Seru, a Year Nine student from Raiwaqa, has made a remarkable achievement by being named the top female cadet during the John Wesley College passing-out parade held at Albert Park in Suva. Reflecting on her upbringing in a challenging environment, Ana shared that her experiences have motivated her to excel academically.

During the week-long cadet training, Ana faced the challenges of humid weather while mastering marching techniques, which she found to be difficult. At just 14 years old, she emphasized the importance of education as a means to improve her life, stating, “I had no other choice, but the only way to improve my life is through education.”

Originating from Naivucini in Naitasiri, Ana stressed the significance of making sound decisions, particularly in the face of peer pressure instilled in her from a young age. She noted that good choices lead to positive outcomes.

Ana dedicated her award to her siblings and her father, who were present at the event. Describing herself as the introvert of the family, she expressed hope that her accomplishment would motivate her younger siblings to pursue their dreams. She highlighted that her siblings, currently in primary school, are eager to follow in her footsteps and participate in cadet training after observing her achievements.
