A 38-year-old woman captured the spotlight on Thursday during the graduation ceremony at the Vodafone Arena for Fiji National University, as her husband proudly assisted her in receiving her award. Monisha Mamta Rao, a mother of three living with a physical disability, celebrated a momentous occasion when her name was called from the podium.
After a year of unwavering dedication in Labasa, Ms. Rao earned one of only two National Training and Productivity Centre Excellence Awards in the Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management. “There is nothing about me without me—this quote motivates me to keep moving forward,” she expressed.
The support of her family has played a pivotal role in her journey. “My family members are my biggest supporters. Without their understanding and support, I wouldn’t have made it this far,” she noted, highlighting the essential role they played in her success.
Married to Ronald Rao, who was visibly emotional at the ceremony, Ms. Rao has built a life filled with love and resilience alongside her supportive husband and their three children. Ronald proudly stated, “Seven years of marriage, and I have never looked at her in any other way than as my loving and hardworking wife.”
He shared insight into their partnership, mentioning that, despite the challenges they face, they tackle life’s demands hand in hand. “We make it work no matter what,” he remarked.
In reflection of her achievements, Ms. Rao delivered an empowering message: “Anyone can achieve anything. With willpower and self-respect, you can soar to greater heights.”
This inspiring story of resilience and determination not only highlights the importance of family support but also serves as a reminder that one can overcome life’s obstacles with courage and perseverance.
