Qenika Ravula has transformed his life against the odds, drawing strength from his faith and personal determination. On the momentous occasion of his graduation from Pacific Polytech at Kshatriya Hall in Labasa, he stood among 51 graduates proudly receiving his National Certificate in Electrical Fitter Mechanic Level Three.
Hailing from Vuinaqalutu Village in Dreketi, Macuata, Qenika’s journey has been marked by resilience in the face of significant challenges. For over a decade, he has battled kyphosis, a spinal disorder that has impacted his physical appearance and interactions with others. Nevertheless, he has turned to the motivating words of scripture, reminding himself, “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.”
At 20 years old, Qenika is the first in his family to earn a trade certificate, a significant milestone not just for himself, but for his family, who have supported him throughout his educational path. After completing his Year 12 at Ahmadiyya Muslim College, he attended the Naleba Youth Training Centre, where he pursued a Certificate in Agriculture before enrolling in the electrical fitter program through the Tertiary Education and Loan Scheme.
His family’s circumstances are humble; his mother cultivates root crops to sustain them, and they rely on support from the Social Welfare Department. Despite the limited resources and challenges, Qenika expresses deep gratitude to his mother for her unwavering support and emphasizes the importance of believing in oneself.
He passionately encourages other youth to stay motivated, pursue paths of integrity, and reject the allure of drugs and crime. “There are no shortcuts in life,” he passionately asserts, urging them to trust in God and work diligently. His message is clear: hard work and faith can lead to success, and his journey serves as a powerful testament to that belief.
This story illustrates not only personal triumph but also the strength found in family support, faith, and the pursuit of education. Qenika’s achievements inspire hope and remind us that determination and belief can lead to extraordinary accomplishments, regardless of the obstacles one may face.
