Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospital in Legalega, Nadi, is leading healthcare innovation with the launch of its new three-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This development aims to serve critically ill patients within the private sector throughout the Western corridor.
The ICU will also assist critically injured tourists who require multi-organ support, advanced intensive care, stabilization, and preparation for medical repatriation to their home countries. Dr. Ratu Vereniki Raiwalui, a staff consultant intensivist and anaesthesiologist at the hospital, mentioned that this new service will enhance the perioperative and surgical care offered by the facility.
Additionally, the newly established intensive care services will support vital open-heart off-pump procedures. Recently, the hospital has also introduced 24-hour General Practitioner services to benefit local communities in the Western corridor, extending its outreach to hotels and nearby islands in the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups.
PSH Specialist Hospital offers a range of services, including emergency support, elective surgical services, advanced diagnostic services, cardiovascular procedures, obstetrics and gynecology, and plans to soon include ophthalmology and pediatric services.
Director Parvish Kumar emphasized the organization’s ambition to expand its specialist services and establish itself as the leading provider of patient-centered care in Fiji and the Pacific Islands. Clinical Director Dr. Sanson F. Fousaga noted that the hospital provides specialist medical referral services to patients from other Pacific Islands, and the new ICU will enable medical retrieval services to and from these island nations, granting them access to high-level specialist care.
