The defending champions of the Extra Battle of the Giants, Paradise Seafood Supplies Lautoka FC, are grappling with an injury crisis as they prepare for a semi-final match against Lincoln Rewa FC tomorrow at Subrail Park. Key players including Simione Nabenu, Kishan Sami, Manasa Nawakula, imported player Rodney Lava, and Shazil Ali are dealing with injuries. The team’s medical staff is working tirelessly to get these players ready for the crucial clash.

Lautoka FC president Shalend Prasad expressed optimism despite the growing list of injured players. He stated, “We’ve been preparing well, and our medical team is doing everything they can for the recovery of these injured players.” The focus is particularly on Manasa Nawakula and Kishan Sami, whose recoveries are critical for the team’s strategy.

In a noteworthy move, the team is also nurturing a group of young players who are prepared to take on important roles if necessary. “We’re grooming a young brigade who are ready to fill the shoes of the injured. They’ve been training well and are looking forward to the game,” Prasad mentioned, indicating a spirit of resilience within the squad.

Acknowledging the strength and experience of Rewa, Prasad emphasized Lautoka’s determination to reach the finals and maintain their title defense. “We respect Rewa. They’ve had a core group playing together for some time, but as the reigning champions, we’re determined to reach the final and return home with our heads held high.”

The semi-finals will kick off with Lautoka facing Rewa at 4:30 PM following the first clash between Labasa and Navua at 2 PM. As the anticipation builds, Prasad wished all teams the best of luck, stating, “May the best team win.”

The challenges Lautoka faces are significant, but the potential for emerging victorious, coupled with the development of young talent, presents a hopeful narrative heading into this pivotal match. Football fans across Fiji are eagerly awaiting what promises to be an exciting encounter by their beloved teams.
