The official opening of the FHL Tower in Suva has been postponed once again, following an incident on the construction site that resulted in injuries to two workers. Fijian Holdings Limited (FHL), the proprietor, reported that the incident took place on November 25.
While FHL has not clarified whether they will bear any legal liabilities related to the injuries, the company emphasized that the FHL Tower remains an active construction site supervised by the main contractor. FHL expressed its commitment to collaborating with the contractor and relevant authorities to ensure proper processes are adhered to following the incident.
The company acknowledged that this unfortunate event would delay the tower’s opening, initially slated for next month. In their statement, FHL stressed their prioritization of safety and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care and responsibility. They also extended their thoughts and prayers to the injured workers and their families during this challenging time.
FHL is publicly listed on the South Pacific Stock Exchange and continues to uphold its responsibilities towards worker safety.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of workplace safety and underscores the need for ongoing vigilance in construction practices. As they address the situation, FHL’s proactive response could lead to safer working environments in the long run, helping to foster a culture of accountability and care in the industry.
