The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua has announced the signing of Flying Fijians and Racing 92 centre Inia Tabuavou on a two-year contract for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
A former student of Natabua High School, Tabuavou joined Racing 92 in 2020. His impressive performances in the midfield, both in attack and defense, led to his selection for the Flying Fijians earlier this year. He started at inside centre in matches against Georgia and the All Blacks.
Tabuavou is set to join the Fijian Drua and is expected to make his debut in the 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season. He will join the team’s pre-season training after completing the 2024 Flying Fijians Test calendar.
Expressing his excitement about the move, Tabuavou stated that he is eager to return home and compete in a new league after two years in France’s Top 14 competition. “It feels good to be home, especially with the Drua family. I’m looking forward to trying out the new environment, especially the culture of the team and also the type of rugby they play,” he said.
During his time with Racing 92, Tabuavou made 21 appearances and scored 3 tries. He has also made two appearances for the Flying Fijians.
