FIFA President Gianni Infantino has congratulated the Rewa football team for their achievement in securing a place in the OFC Champions League and winning the 2024 Digicel Fiji Premier League, which wrapped up last month.
In a statement issued to the Fiji Football Association, Infantino praised the team’s determination throughout the season and highlighted the significance of their victory. “Congratulations to each and every member of the team and of the club for this great achievement,” he remarked.
His remarks were made following Rewa’s impressive 3-1 win at Govind Park in Ba last month. Infantino, who has been at the helm of FIFA since 2016, is of Swiss-Italian descent.
In related news, the Delta team is getting ready for the FMF Inter District Competition, where they are placed in Group B of the Super Premier Division alongside Western teams Ba, Nadi, and Nadroga.
Roderick Singh, the team’s coach, shared in an interview last week that their victory in the premier league and subsequent qualification for the OFC has inspired the team to strive for further success. As they head into the FMF IDC with their recent accomplishments, Singh emphasized the need for an engaging and solid defensive strategy to secure the IDC trophy.
The Rewa team will represent Fiji at the 2025 Oceania Football Championship.
