President of India, Droupadi Murmu, will make an official visit to Fiji from August 5-7.
Murmu became India’s 15th President after her successful election in 2022 as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party. She is the second woman to hold the office, following Pratibha Patil.
This visit marks the first time an Indian Head of State will visit Fiji. In preparation, an Inter-Agency Coordinating Committee has been established by the Cabinet to ensure that every aspect of the visit is meticulously planned and executed.
During her visit, President Murmu is expected to sign an agreement concerning the proposed sites for the construction of a new Indian Chancery, Cultural Centre, staff residences, and a 100-bed super specialty hospital in Suva.
