President Droupadi Murmu of India will make an official visit to Fiji from August 5-7. Murmu, who became India’s 15th President in 2022 as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party, is the second woman to hold the office, following Pratibha Patil. This marks the first visit by an Indian Head of State to Fiji.

An Inter-Agency Coordinating Committee has been established by the Cabinet to ensure all aspects of the visit are carefully planned and executed. During her visit, President Murmu is expected to sign agreements regarding proposed sites for the construction of a new Indian Chancery, Cultural Centre, staff residence, and a 100-bed Super Specialty Hospital in Suva.
